Root-canal job and new kitchen

It’s interesting to have a holiday, This morning, I had an appointment with my dentist. An hour later, we had completed stage one of a serious root-canal project. Yikes. I had my lunch, trying to avoid to eat my own lips and tongue, while the anesthetic was wearing off.
Later today, I continued the project re-making our kitchen (with the help of Mona and Annette). After standing on a ladder for hours, I’ve discovered hundreds of neglected muscles.... But, the kitchen looks nice ;-)

Dunderklumpen

This is a film, mixed reality with animation, from 1974 (may translate as ThunderBlob). Way back, I only saw it once. Still, I remembered the main story, characters and theme music. I've been trying, for years, to get a copy and finally Ulrika and Paul managed to get me a DVD with this fantastic film. The main forces behind it was Per Åhlin and Beppe Wolgers.

Limerick is melting

Over the past few days, the weather in Limerick has been - VERY WARM. Today we had + 30C. I know that many people would doubt this, but it is true. Sun has been shining, blue sky, too hot... If this is the start of Global Warming, I don't want to see it through.

Snoring

Last night I completed the first stage of a sleep study, trying to figure out if I suffer from sleep apnoea. Just before going to bed, I put on all the sensors of a Viasys data logger.
This morning, in the Regional Hospital in Limerick, I got the print-outs. I snored 1405 times last night.
I guess this looks like a problem.

Coming down with summer cold and more music

Had a busy day, and now I feel an awful summer cold coming on. I hate feeling unwell.
Earlier this evening I listened to Mystery Train, as usual. It's an outright disgrace and scandal that RTE is closing this show. I encourage everybody with any sense for music and culture to send a formal complaint to RTE. They are closing down Rattlebag as well... Sad, very sad.

At the end of the day, there's music

Sunday evening, we were sitting in the garden looking at the sunset while listening to Lyric FM's Nova with Bernard Clarke. This program was about Brian Eno. Great stuff, as it's seldom you get to hear influences like Cage and Stockhausen on public radio.
Today, it's been work as usual. What has made my day light up is David Spondike's Schnappschuss von der Erde taht I first heard at ICA during ICAD2006. Listening to the piece, over and over again, many times, in my office, with headphones, at home, etc., has just convinced me that this is a great piece of music.
